Students of Darshan Academy, Pune, have once again proved their mettle by standing out victorious in the Pune Zone Inter School Science Competition, Avishkaar, held at SB Patil School, Pune, on October 14, 2023. A competition designed to push students’ scientific proclivity, creativity, and imagination to its testing limits and judged by the ISRO scientist, Dr. RK Sinha, was indeed an eye-opener for all budding young scientists. Students entered a biomimicry model that depicted the six scientific bases of nature. The Gherkin tower, the aerodynamics of the beak of the Kingfisher used in the streamlined body of the bullet train, the strength of the hexagonal bridge structure from the honeycomb of the honey bees that withstands an earthquake, the LED lights taken from the fireflies and lastly the smooth friction less wings of the windmills taking their designs from the fins of the humpback whales, truly completed this fine project. They had worked painstakingly under the guidance of their art teachers, Mrs. Shitole and Mrs. Kavita, and the dynamic science teacher, Mrs. Sujata Rajput. The second accolade was the consolation prize in the nature sketching category, won by our young artist, Mayanka Shintre, of class 5. Kudos to you children, the school is Indeed extremely proud of you all.
